Meet Ulysses

Created December, 2012Ulysses 2

I feel somewhat remiss for not posting this earlier.  I was trying to keep things more or less in chronological order, but it hasn’t gone particularly well as I keep remembering bits and pieces that I’ve forgotten.

This little guy is Ulysses, and actually predates my quilting days – if only slightly.  He was one of the first things I made with my Singer, from this Simplicity pattern that I’ve been using for years.  I made tons of these for my friends just before I moved to Boston.  I liked the thought of a personalized parting gift that was potentially slightly embarrassing.

Ulysses was put together at Nick’s request, as he has an obsession with all things elephant and was quite taken with this cotton fabric that we picked up from Winmil in China Town.

Ulysses 1

I haven’t actually made any toys since this.  I think I’ll attempt to progress to something a little more challenging than a four piece pattern next time.
